Ashland County OVI Checkpoint Results in Arrests

Ashland – The Ohio State Highway Patrol, with the assistance of the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office and the Loudonville Police Department conducted an OVI checkpoint on State Route 3 in the Village of Loudonville on Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 7PM to 9PM.

Approximately 353 vehicles went through the checkpoint resulting in 6 vehicles being diverted for further investigation. The driver of one of the diverted vehicles was subsequently arrested for OVI and tested a .179% BAC, more than twice the legal limit. An open container was also located in the vehicle.

Two firearms were also seized from a separate vehicle of which the occupants were intoxicated. Saturation patrols in the area yielded two citations for driving without a valid license as well as an open container violation.

The Ohio Stated Highway Patrol would like to remind you that if you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangement before you drink.

Don’t let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired.
