Jeromesville, OH – A Carroll County man was arrested after crashing his car into a semi-trailer on U.S. Route 30 this afternoon, with a blood alcohol content nearly three times the legal limit.
The incident occurred around 12:46 PM at the intersection of U.S. Route 30 and State Route 89. The Ohio Highway Patrol, along with Jeromesville Fire & EMS, responded to the scene after multiple 911 callers reported a car driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of U.S. Route 30.
According to the Ohio Highway Patrol's report, the 2011 Chevrolet Impala, driven by James Ross Jr., 44, of Malvern, Ohio, collided with the back right side of a semi-trailer. The collision resulted in the semi-trailer losing 2 of its tires and significant damage to its rims.
The driver of the semi, Jeffery Findley, 59, of Loudonville, Ohio, recounted that he had to swerve to the left to avoid a head-on collision. Despite his efforts, the Impala struck his trailer and came to a stop in the median.
Ross was examined by Jeromesville EMS and found to be uninjured. However, he was arrested on suspicion of Operating a Vehicle under the Influence (OVI) after blowing a .272, nearly three times the legal limit for alcohol. This will make his 3rd arrest for OVI in Ohio.
Findley was not injured in the crash.
Aber's Towing & Crane Service assisted with the clean-up and removal.
The Ohio Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
