Ashland County Fair Antique Judging




There were many participants this year, for the Antique show, so many beautiful and unique pieces, it was difficult to choose a winner in each category. The antiques were judged by grouping similar pieces together and choosing the best in each category. The first category in line is Flow Blue porcelain dating back to the 1820’s. The winners of this category are, in 1st place, Janis Miguel DeLeon, 2nd place, Mori Hirst, and 3rd place Tammy Brockway.


Westmoreland Glass, dating back to the late 1800’s, the 1st place winner Mori Hirst, 2nd place to Cheri Denney, and 3rd place is awarded to Katie Hutson.


Burmese glass is unique for its pink blush color. There is a 1st place winner Mori Hirst and 2nd place winner, Cheri Denney.


Teapot-China or Porcelain, beautiful pieces in this group, and we have three winners. First place winner is Mori Hirst, 2nd place winner is Beth Chepote, and 3rd place winner is Marline Smart.


Next to the porcelain teapots is the Fan Vase. The 1st place winner of the Fan Vase is Sandra Tunnell, 2nd place, Roma Bantz, and 3rd place winner is Mori Hirst.


The Bride’s Baskets with holder is a unique showcase item, drawing your attention to the pink fluted glass basket and its aged metal holder. First place in this category goes to Cheri Denney, 2nd place to Susan Denbow, and 3rd place to Mary L. Jansen.


Egg Cups are each one uniquely created to hold a beautiful porcelain egg. These egg cups are owned by our 1st place prize winner Cheri Denney, 2nd place winner Katie Hutson, and 3rd place winner Marline Smart.

Wash Bowls & Pitchers can date back to the late 1700’s to the early 1800’s. As you can imagine, if you find a basin and pitcher dating back to the late 1700’s that is still intact, you have a rare find. The winners of the antique wash bowls and pitchers displayed at the Ashland County Fair, in 1st place is Cheri Denney, 2nd place, Mori Hirst, and 3rd place, Donna Jean Stauffer.


Mini Hen on Nest is a popular antique collector’s item. These hens didn’t lay any eggs, but they brought their owners a nice blue ribbon in first place for Janis Miguel DeLeon, 2nd place ribbon for Virginia McKinley, and the 3rd place ribbon for Teri Drake.

Covered Compote 1st place winner is Roma Bantz, 2nd place winner is Janis Miguel DeLeon, and 3rd place winner is Katie Hutson.

Character Glass Tumblers are always a fun antique to collect. These tumblers brought a 1st prize placement to Ada Sue Workman, 2nd place to Pennola Nolan, and 3rd place to Mori Hirst.


An Antique Meat Clever was the source of the winning ribbons for this next group. First place for the antique meat cleaver was awarded to Derek Russell, 2nd place to Nolan Robinson, and 3rd place to Barb Queer.


Antique Child's Mug 1st place winner is Katie Hutson, 2nd place is Jennifer Willis, and 3rd place Barb Queer.


Antiques Serving Tray winners are in 1st place, Pam Potter, 2nd place Riley Smith, and 3rd place, Mary A Denney.


Antique Thermos ribbon winners are, in 1st place Mori Hirst, 2nd place John Retherford, and in 3rd place Katie Hutson.


Antique Spice Box or Cabinet 1st place winner is Mary L. Jansen, 2nd place, Marline Smart, and 3rd place Derek Russell.


Antique Spatterware 1st place winner is Mary A Denney, 2nd place winner is Cheri Denney, and the 3rd place winner is Sonja Obrynba.


Antique Bean Pot winner of 1st place is Rick Russell, 2nd place is Susan Denbow, and 3rd place is Teri Drake.


Antique Candlesticks (Pair of 2) 1st place winner is Sandra Tunnell, 2nd place winner is Holly Taylor, and 3rd place winner is Pennola Nolan.


Antique Ironing Board 1st place winner is Mori Hirst, the 2nd place winner is Susan Denbow, and the 3rd place winner is Dawn Henning.


Antique Small Wooden Shelf, 1st place goes to Mary A Denney.


Antique Ladie's Hat, 1st place goes to Mori Hirst, 2nd place goes to Jane Roland, and 3rd place Pennola Nolan.


Antique Change Purse, 1st place winner is Jane Roland, 2nd place winner is Mori Hirst, and 3rd place winner is Mary A Denney.


Antique Belt, 1st place winner is Derek Russell, 2nd place winner is Cindy Kerr, and 3rd place is awarded to Stacey Cole.


Antique Muff, 1st place winner is Katie Hutson, 2nd place winner is Holly Taylor, and 3rd place Cindy Kerr.


Antique Pocket Watch, 1st place winner is Derek Russell, 2nd place winner is Ada Sue Workman, and 3rd place winner is Roma Bantz.


Antique Child's Toy Dish Set-Boxed, 1st place winner is Pauline Patton, 2nd place winner is Mori Hirst, and 3rd place winner is Katie Hutson.


Antique Stuffed Dog, 1st place winner is Mary L. Jansen, 2nd place winner is Gerald E. Workman, and the 3rd place winner is Ada Sue Workman.


Antique Rag Doll, 1st place winner is Mori Hirst, 2nd place winner is Beth Chepote, and 3rd place winner is Katie Hutson.


Antique Cloth/Linen Child's Book, 1st place winner is Katie Hutson, 2nd place winner is Mori Hirst, and the 3rd place winner is Jennifer McKinley.


Antique Toy Train (Engine & 1 Car), 1st place winner is Sandra Tunnell, 2nd place winner is Stacey Cole, and the 3rd place winner is Marla Garrison.


Antique Chenille Bedspread, 1st place winner is Mori Hirst, 2nd place winner is Cheri Denney, and 3rd place winner is Virginia McKinley.

Antique Kid's TV Show Item, 1st place winner is Mori Hirst, 2nd place winner is Katie Hutson, and the 3rd place winner is Heidie Murphy.


Antique Woodwind Instrument, 1st place winner is Joseph Kearns, 2nd place winner is Barbara Rhoades, and 3rd place winner is Julia Borkosky.


Antique Cigar Box, 1st place winner is Mori Hirst, 2nd place winner is Katie Hutson, and 3rd place winner is Jane Roland.


Antique Souvenir Pennant, 1st place winner is Derek Russell, 2nd place winner is Gerald E. Workman, and 3rd place winner is Janis Miguel DeLeon.


Antique Railroad Lantern, 1st place winner is Jane Roland, 2nd place winner is Barb Queer, and 3rd place winner is Sonja Obrynba.

Antique Framed Photo-Group of People, 1st place winner is Sarah Kearns, 2nd place winner is Derek Russell, and the 3rd place winner is Holly Taylor.


Antique Vietnam War, 1st place winner is Rick Russell, 2nd place winner is Derek Russell, and 3rd place winner is Sandra Tunnell.


Antique Perrysville Historical Item, 1st place winner is Derek Russell, 2nd place winner is Gerald E. Workman, and 3rd place winner is Barb Queer.


Antique Mohicanville Historical Item, 1st place winner is Ada Sue Workman.


Antique Dated Item - 1873, 1st place winner is Gerald E Workman, and 2nd place winner is Derek Russell.


Antique Dated Item-1923, 1st place winner is Derek Russell, 2nd place winner is Barb Queer, and 3rd place winner is Jane Roland.


Antique Dated Item-1973, 1st place winner is Derek Russell, 2nd place winner is Gerald E. Workman, and 3rd place winner is Barb Queer.


Antique Ashland Historical Item, 1st place winner is Katie Hutson, 2nd place winner is Gerald E. Workman, and 3rd place winner is Derek Russell.


Best of Show $25 Gift Certificate-Troth Auctioneering is awarded to Derek Russell.


Reserve Best of Show $20 Gift Certificate- Dilgard & Assoc. is awarded to Derek Russell.


Antique Honorable Mention $15 Gift Certificate- Antiques on Main is awarded to Mori Hirst.


Antique Best of Ashland County $25 Gift Certificate-The Gleaner is awarded to Sarah Kearns.
