
On Wednesday March 29, 2023, The Mental Health & Recovery Board in partnership with Disability Rights Ohio, will be hosting a hybrid (in person and virtual) conference, featuring a panel of cutting-edge speakers discussing contemporary issues in behavioral health.
Keynote speaker, Dr. Joanna Moncrieff, author of The Myth of the Chemical Cure and co-chair of the Critical Psychiatry Network, will challenge misperceptions about psychiatric drugs and discuss their role in recovery.
Attendees will also get to hear from featured speaker, Rob Wipond, author of Your Consent is Not Required: The Rise in Psychiatric Detentions, Forced, Treatment, and Abusive Guardianships. Mr. Wipond will discuss concerns regarding the recently released 988 National Suicide Prevention Hotline, in his talk titled, 911 and 988: Both Help and Horror on Everyone’s Speed Dial.
Several other speakers will present on the topic of the importance of individual voice and choice, and collaborative care in behavioral health.
Check-in/Registration will begin at 8:00 am on the main campus of Ashland University (Upper Convocation Center) at 638 Jefferson St., Ashland, Ohio 44805. The first keynote presentation will begin at 9:00 am. Virtual attendees will join via zoom webinar.
